If you’re planning a wildlife adventure at Kaziranga National Park, knowing the safari timings helps you plan your visit efficiently. The park offers mainly two types of safari experiences — jeep safari and elephant safari — each operating at specific time slots for the best wildlife viewing opportunities.

Jeep Safari Timings in Kaziranga

Jeep safaris are the most popular way to explore the park’s grasslands, wetlands, and forests. These safaris operate in both morning and afternoon sessions across different zones such as Central (Kohora), Western (Bagori), Eastern (Agaratoli), and Burapahar.

Typical Jeep Safari Time Slots:

  • Morning Safari: 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM (approx.)

  • Afternoon Safari: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM (approx.)
The duration of a jeep safari is usually 2–3 hours, offering visitors a chance to spot the famous one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, elephants, and various bird species.

Elephant Safari Timings in Kaziranga

Elephant safaris provide a unique wildlife experience and operate only in the early morning hours when animal activity is highest. These rides usually last around 45 minutes to 1 hour and are conducted mainly in the Central and Western zones.

Typical Elephant Safari Time Slots:

  • First Session: 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM

  • Second Session: 6:00 AM – 7:30 AM (approx.)
Unlike jeep safaris, elephant safaris generally do not run in the evening and require advance booking due to limited availability.

Best Time to Visit for Safari

Kaziranga safaris usually operate during the tourist season from November to April, while the park remains closed during the monsoon months because of heavy rainfall and flooding. Morning safaris are often considered the best for wildlife sightings due to cooler temperatures and active animal movement.

Important Note

Safari timings may vary depending on weather conditions, park regulations, and seasonal changes. Visitors should always confirm the latest schedule before booking.
