Hi everyone, I’m based in Ottawa and currently looking into replacing the windows in my home. The house is getting older, and with our winters being so long and cold, I’ve started to notice that the indoor temperature isn’t as stable as it used to be.
Some rooms feel drafty, and heating costs have definitely gone up. I want to make a smart upgrade, but it’s hard to know what kind of windows are actually best for Canadian climates versus what’s just sales talk.
Has anyone in Ottawa replaced their windows recently and found it worth the investment?

I went through a similar upgrade last year here in Ottawa, and I completely understand your concerns. In our climate, windows play a huge role in comfort and energy efficiency. Once I replaced mine, the drafts disappeared and the house stayed much warmer without constantly adjusting the thermostat.
What helped me most was focusing on options that are truly designed for Canadian weather conditions — insulation, sealing, and durability really matter here.
If you’re still comparing choices, this page about Canadian Choice windows was a useful reference for understanding what to prioritize for Ottawa homes.
