Would Integrating Cloud Computing Help Handle Large-Scale In-Game Events More Effectively?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a multiplayer game, and one thing that keeps coming up is how difficult it is to manage large-scale in-game events—think massive battles, special world events, or global tournaments. When thousands (or even tens of thousands) of players join at once, the servers often struggle. We see lag spikes, connection drops, and sometimes even full server crashes, which obviously hurts the player experience.

I’ve been wondering if integrating cloud computing solutions could help with this, features like auto-scaling (where server resources automatically increase or decrease based on demand), distributed servers across multiple regions, and edge computing (processing data closer to players geographically) seem promising.

Has anyone here used cloud infrastructure to handle these kinds of events? How much does it improve stability and performance? Also, what challenges or costs should we be aware of? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
