Writing the abstract of your dissertation is often a more complicated undertaking than you had imagined. It requires an entirely different way of thinking and condensing your months of research into a brief and clear paragraph. For many students, finding the balance between what to highlight in the abstract and what to omit presents an enormous challenge. Some students will try to adhere to templates for building their abstract, while other students will rewrite multiple drafts of their abstract until it has been refined to the point that it sounds correct to them.

I recently came across a few resources on dissertation abstract help, and it made me realize that most of us deal with the same challenges. The abstract needs to explain the purpose of the study, the approach, and the main findings without giving too much detail, which is a tough balance to strike.

Once you submitted your dissertation, what tools/insights did you use to help you create a concise summary of your project in an abstract? Did you use a prescribed format for writing this or develop one as you progressed through the various stages of developing your dissertation? I am interested in hearing various perspectives on what methods assisted you in creating an abstract that was easier for you to write.
