Hello everyone,

I’ve recently become a pool owner and am learning the ropes of proper maintenance. I’m trying to keep everything in check, from water chemistry to cleaning the filters and skimming debris. I’ve heard a lot about the importance of balancing pH and chlorine levels, but I’m not sure how often I should check and adjust them.

Also, what are the best practices for maintaining the pool’s pump and filter system?

Any tips or tools you use to make the maintenance process easier would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

You should check your pool’s pH and chlorine levels at least 2-3 times a week, especially in warmer months. Keep pH between 7.4-7.6 and chlorine levels between 1-3 ppm. For effective pool maintenance, clean your pump and skimmer baskets weekly, and backwash or clean the filter monthly (sand filters) or as needed (cartridge/DE filters). Skim debris daily and consider a robotic pool cleaner for ease. Essential tools include a pool brush, telescopic pole, skimmer net, and vacuum. With regular care, your pool will stay in great condition!
